Half of faith
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Purity is half of faith." Islam teaches cleanliness of the body, clothes, place and heart. Salah is not valid without taharah (purity).
Two kinds of impurity
Minor impurity (hadath asghar) is removed by Wudu; major impurity (hadath akbar) is removed by Ghusl — a full bath. Physical dirt (najasah) is washed off with water.
Allah loves the pure
The Quran says: "Indeed, Allah loves those who repent and loves those who purify themselves" (2:222). Purity is worship, not just hygiene.
