Unit: Taharah & Wudu · Lesson 15 of 50 · study cards + quiz
When Ghusl is required

Ghusl (washing the whole body) is required after major impurity — such as janabah, and for women after menstruation and post-natal bleeding end — before praying or touching the mushaf.

How to perform it

Intend purification, wash the hands, wash away any impurity, perform Wudu, pour water over the head three times reaching the roots, then wash the entire body, starting with the right side.

Sunnah Ghusl

Ghusl is also strongly recommended for Jumuah (Friday prayer), the two Eids, and when entering ihram for Hajj or Umrah — days when Muslims gather at their best.
