🕌 Conditions of Salah شُرُوط الصَّلَاة

Unit: Salah Step by Step · Lesson 18 of 50 · study cards + quiz
Before you begin

For Salah to be valid: be Muslim, sane and past the age of discernment; be pure from hadath and najasah; cover the awrah; face the qiblah; pray in the correct time; and intend the prayer.

Facing the qiblah

Muslims everywhere face the Kaaba in Makkah. If the direction is unknown, ask, use the sun or a compass, and pray according to your best judgement — Allah does not burden a soul beyond its scope.

Praying on time

Each prayer has a fixed window. Praying at the beginning of the time is the most beloved deed to Allah. Deliberately delaying a prayer out of its time is a major sin.
